What to wear & what to bring

What to wear

  • Solid colors. Rich tones like navy, burgundy, forest green, and soft neutrals look great on camera.
  • Skip busy patterns, big logos and neon. They pull attention away from your face.
  • A blazer or structured layer instantly reads polished.
  • Pick a fit you feel confident in. Pressed, comfortable, and something you'd wear to meet a great client.
  • Glasses? Wear them if you usually do. I'll work with the light to avoid glare.

What to bring

  • Lipstick or lip balm and a comb or brush for a quick touch-up before your turn.
  • Reading glasses, if you use them, so you can look over your images and pick your favorite.
  • Business cards. This is a networking event, so come ready to connect.
  • Your plans for the photo, whether it's LinkedIn, your website or a speaker bio, so I can shoot for it.

Meet Steph

I'm Stephanie Shanks, a portrait and personal branding photographer based in Baraboo, Wisconsin, with nearly 20 years behind the lens. My work has appeared in magazines and on billboards, and I photograph executives, entrepreneurs, authors and speakers throughout the Madison area.

I'm known for helping people who "hate having their picture taken" relax and look like themselves. I also host a series of workshops for women.

I'm so excited to co-host Headshots & Hops with Serendipity Labs Madison. It's a relaxed evening to connect with other local professionals and see what it's like to step in front of my camera.
