Self Love Importance

What is the importance of self-love?  What does self-love even mean?  If you are just beginning your journey into finding more love, joy, and abundance in your life – then this blog post is for you.  Self-love is a journey. It is a gateway into finding true love within yourself.

Being in the Moment

Learning to love, honor, and accept oneself is a way to heal the past.  When we learn to take ownership of our own thoughts and feelings, it opens a space for forgiveness and gratitude.  By choosing self-love- we are choosing to live in the present moment.  When we choose to trust our hearts, we relinquish the control that others have had over us.  The self we love is about living in the moment and not allowing other people’s opinions or actions to affect who we are.

Selfish Thoughts

We tend to think that taking time to do things that bring us joy and happiness is selfish.  Self-love isn’t something that we were taught.  We are taught as women in this society to be caretakers- like mothers, wives, co-workers, daughters, and more.  We were taught that we should find happiness in this life.  The truth is that depression and anxiety are at an all-time high.  As a society, we need to not only practice self-love and acceptance but encourage it amongst our peers!

A Quick Way to Encourage Yourself Into Self Love

A quick way to encourage yourself into self-love is to make a list of all the things that you enjoy doing.  I recommend writing 30 things down.  This will make you really think about what brings more happiness into your life.  It can be as simple as taking a nap. It can be as extravagant as taking a trip to the beach.  There is no right or wrong answer, and there is no minimum or maximum dream requirement.  Have this list with you at all times.  When you find yourself with a few minutes to spare-  take out your list and do one of those things.   Every day, commit to doing one thing!  Imagine yourself as a young child,  exploring the world around you! Remember the excitement you had at the smallest thing?  Find that excitement again!  Share it with us! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
