Wisconsin Winter Wedding Tips details

 Winter Wedding

Are you thinking about having your wedding in the winter?  You are not alone,  December is now the third most popular moth to get married! Even in Wisconsin, December is a popular month to get married!  This blog is all about a recent Wisconsin winter wedding I photographed at the Baraboo Arts Building in Wisconsin. The venue was already decorated for the holidays ( a bonus to having a winter wedding.) This  added to the warm and  cozy feeling of this intimate and classy wedding.  The couple, Renee and Matt have been together for a few years when they decided that it was time to get married. December, for them, was the perfect time to become husband and wife.

Why a Wisconsin Winter Wedding?

There are plenty of reasons to have a winter wedding.  One reason is that you don’t have to compete with hectic summer schedules of friends and families.   There is also  less stress involved in planning (the dreaded ‘what if it rains?’ is completely taken off the table). There are better rates and more dates available at your favorite venue.  Winter weddings are a lot less ordinary, its a fun and exciting time to plan a cozy and warm fairy tale wedding.

The Ceremony and Reception

The wedding ceremony was somewhat traditional.  A really neat winter wedding idea they did was taking the  vows they read and put them into a Christmas Ornament.  Renee and Matt planned their ceremony and reception in the same venue.  When the ceremony was over, guests simply walked to the next hall for the cocktails hors d’ oeuveres.

Formal Pictures

Renee and Matt wanted to do formal pictures ahead of time. We did this by arranging a short and quick reveal, and then headed out to a nearby state park to do pictures.  There was some planning ahead of time to make sure we got pictures outside as December has the shortest time of daylight in the entire year.  The day of their wedding was cold and overcast, but we didn’t have to deal with rain, humidity or crowds.  This is my definition of success!

Winter weddings are growing in popularity,  The ambiance around a winter wedding is equivalent to that of the first winter snowfall — it’s magical and very romantic.  And the timing couldn’t be more perfect when it comes to that island honeymoon! See more pictures from this wedding, here.

Wisconsin Wedding Venues ceremony on hill

About one of my favorite Wisconsin Wedding Venues

There are quite a few beautiful Wisconsin wedding venues, but Wild Rose Ranch is really a place you should check out. It is right outside Baraboo, Wisconsin.  Part of the beauty of this venue is that its a working horse stable.  (You can even rent miniature ponies as part of your event!) Other amenities include on site lodging, a large fire pit and a heated indoor stable with bar. You can check out more about one of my favorite wisconsin wedding venues here: Wild Rose Ranch. (The website is a little funky, but its really a wonderful place!)

About The couple

There was so much love between the couple, the weather was perfect, and this venue was stunning!

Tammy and Jesse were set up on a blind date, and sparks flew immediately! I have known Tammy for years, and my best friend actually set her up on this date.  Tammy is a hair stylist and Jesse is a nurse.   Jesse has 2 daughters from a previous relationship, and Tammy has a son as well.  Their love of their families and general quirkiness made them a natural fit right from the beginning.  As a mother of step children, I know that blending a families is difficult, but its always worth it.  The love I see with this couple and their children is very special.   You can read more about this couple and this wisconsin wedding venue here:
